We may not all be able to experience the Olympics happening in London up close and personal over the next few weeks but thanks to a few shops that have landed on American soil, we can certainly eat as if we are.

Myers of Keswick, a quaint little spot at 634 Hudson Street gives you the feeling that you are in a British mini mart, where you can get everything from hand made pork pies and sausage rolls, Walkers Crisps (translation: potato chips) and my personal favorite, Marmite, a spreadable yeast extract that goes great on buttered toast. So weather you’re and expatriate, or you just want a traditional taste from an authentic British grocery, stop in. And pick up a ‘Royal Kiss Tea Towel’ while you’re at it.

Tea and Sympathy
Now if you are looking to have a sit down for lunch or dinner or just a great pot of tea, this is the place. An assortment of fresh sandwich’s and salads, (Cheese and Branston Pickle is highly recommended and you have not lived until you’ve had the Steak and Guinness Pie!) On Sunday’s they have a special of Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding. A great selection of Teas, herbal or otherwise, make it worth the trip. There’s even a store next door to stock up on any favorites!

Bishops and Barons

Stroll E. 14th Street on a Tuesday evening as we did recently, and get drawn into this unexpected but delightful new Lounge that’s great for small gatherings or a 1 on 1 date. Great, extensive cocktail menu that is reasonably priced which also offers an aperitif menu to compliment the dinner selection. The Spicy Soft Shell Crab Wraps were just what the doctor ordered. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable, and seemed to be hand picked for the vibe of the place. (Apparently the folks from Paper Magazine throw a party there on Tuesday’s)
Well worth checking out if you’re in that neck of the woods.
